The bag design, size, and decoration are based on the shot bags (one of the actual names used
for such bags in the literature of the times) seen in the artwork of Alfred J. Miller who went to the 1837 Mtn
Man Rendezvous.
The bag is 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" approximate........
1) the body and strap are made from heavy brain tan that was not overly softened and has been aged
2) it is fully lined with pillow ticking and has a small interior leather pocket sewn to the inside back
3) the beadwork is typical Northern Plains style of the period - color choice (sky blue, cobalt blue, white, and
amber) and size (10/0 beads) was based on what was available per the trade lists and other documentation of the
mid-1830's era.......
The shoulder strap is fairly long - I'm 6' tall and 250 lbs, it can be shortened easily with a lace and hole arrangement
or I can add a buckle at no extra cost (I have an antique iron roller buckle which can be documented to the time
and place) .
